Another Super-Imaginative NHL Coaching Hire...
The Vegas Golden Knights have changed coaches, and per usual, the new hire comes from the North American good old boys club closed network.
Does anyone else even notice this shit?
No, there isn’t a ton of collective intellect or imagination among NHL GM’s and don’t look for that to change. They like it. They like living in their own bubble and not being challenged. They like people like themselves more than others. They protect their own. They don’t look anywhere for coaches other than the neighborhood. And this neighborhood is all about North America, hiring North American head coaches and hockey execs, and not even glancing at other options.
Tell me I’m wrong? Someone - argue with me. Because there’s 32 teams - meaning 64 total NHL GM’s and head coaches. 62 of the 64 are from North America.
Fully one-third of the NHL playing membership is from outside North America. These guys don’t care about them. They haven’t, they don’t, and they won’t.
In Dallas, Jim Nill has hired six coaches over his time there - all have been from Canada - where he’s from. He wouldn’t and won’t (and never will) even interview someone who was born outside North America.
None of them will. And once more - we see it plain as day.
When will the league address this? It is a continuing series of unfair hiring practices and it’s costing any player in the league not from North America a shot at coaching or being an executive.
Yeah - Torts is back - yayyyyyyy…. coooooool….
dang man - this is the best we can do?
