I’m gonna be super consistent here, because I’ve always believed this and I still do. And it’s across the board. Because I’ve sat through dozens and dozens of these at the one place we’re supposed to get a break from the real world - a sporting event. We’re in the entertainment and distraction business. We’re the toy department. We’re the shelter from the shitstorm.
So - stop with the “Moments of Silence” at sporting events. They don’t belong there. I don’t care who it is or what just happened.
And if you’re on the “keep politics out of sporting events” side of the aisle - you already agree with me, and so you don’t get to have it both ways.
There is no reason to do these - they don’t belong at sporting events. Team’s and leagues, and in lots of cases fans are just super afraid of what happens if they don’t keep doing them.
It’s time to stop the practice entirely.
