Stars Game 4 - The Big Boys Gotta Score
Dallas is up 2-1 in their opening round series with Colorado with grit, guile, and goaltending. Now it's time for the goal scorers to score.
It’s this time in any series, when the pundits load and deploy the word “stranglehold”, which has come to mean a 3-1 series lead. Try it as a drinking game the next couple days. Whenever you see a story about a 2-1 team looking to go - or extend their lead to 3 -1 - it’s usually accompanied by the term.
The Dallas Stars, seemingly on the brink just a few days ago, are in fact, looking to take a 3-1 “stranglehold” on the series, with a Game 4 win tonight in Denver over the Avalanche.
My bit for the post-season is doing these “PRE STARS of the GAME” - naming 3 Dallas Stars who have to be good for the Stars to win the game.
I’ve done well so far. In the Game 2 win, I had Jamie Benn, Jake Oettinger, and Wyatt (5 shots on goal) Johnston. Benn took the game over - Otter stopped 16 in the 3rd and OT to get the win, and Wyatt was all over it.
In Game 3 - I offered that a -2 wouldn’t sit well with Esa Lindell. It didn’t. The PK, Esa’s baby, turned back 6 Avalanche power plays, and Lindell saved a goal with his glove in the OT moments before Tyler Seguin ended the game. Lindell, was my #3 PRE STAR. Otter was 2 - boy was he - and I had Mikko Rantanen as my number 1 Star. Mikko’s impact on the game was substantial.
And now - here’s who has to cash for Dallas to get the “stranglehold”.
Let’s GO!!
